Guimarães. This is the birthplace of King D. Afonso Henriques, first king of Portugal. It

King Dom Dinis ordered the construction of this building in 1321 in the historic village
of Vila Nova de Cerveira. Located just 13 km from the Spanish border, it is an excellent
way station to or from Spain. This is one of the oldest of the Pousadas of Portugal was opened in 1982 and it has 29 rooms with air
conditioning in an urban location.
