Paradores of Spain

61. Santa Cruz de la Palma
Isla de la Palma

Typical Canary Isles Construction
This building, of Canary Isles character, can be found in the capital of the attractive island of La Palma, whose loveliness makes it well worth a visit.  The facilities of the Parador, which are comfortable and friendly, are decorated in a traditional style, with dark wood, plants and antique details.

62. Santiago de Compostela
La Coruña

Real Hospital, a Refuge for Pilgrims at the End of the 15th Century
Framed by the Plaza del Obradoiro, art is its essence.  A former refuge for pilgrims, this hotel is now and authentic museum along Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque lines, considered to be the oldest hotel and one of the most representative in the world.  Its interior is also impressive: there are four cloisters of immense beauty, elegant living rooms, spectacular bedrooms and a luxurious dining room.

63. Santillana del Mar
Cantabria

Large 17th/18th Century Ancestral Home
In the heart of Santillana del Mar, a small Canatabrian town whose origins go back to the 8th Century, this 17th-18th century ancestral home, with creepers climbing up the walls, offers its guests beautiful bedrooms and living rooms.  Forged metal lamps and paintings with motifs from the Atamira caves decorate the dining room.

64. Santo Domingo de la Calzada
La Rioja

Former Hospital on the Pilgrims’ Road to Santiago
This Parador, next to the Cathedral, is housed in a 12th Century hospital, which sheltered the pilgrims on the Road to Santiago.  The building stands out for the quality, luxury and comfort of its facilities, and it conserves its regal character in its stately living rooms and bedrooms, some with four poster beds.  The lobby, built with Gothic arches, stone pillars and a wooden molded ceiling, deserves a special mention.

65. Segovia
Segovia

A Parador with Views
Located on the El Terminillo estate, on the outskirts of the city, this Parador rightly earned itself the nickname of “viewpoint of Segovia”.  Its facilities that offer unbeatable views of the city include a heated swimming pool, a splendid conference center, with several congress rooms, and a dining room.
