Paradores of Spain

31. Fuente Dé
Cantabria

Sheltered by the Picos De Europa
The first impression of any person traveling here to this Parador is the contrast between the horizontal nature of the building and the vertical nature of the Picos de Europa, creating a large but beautiful landscape.  The building recreates the splendor of classical mountain style and offers the traveler home warmth that is greatly appreciated.

32. Fuerteventura (CLOSED)
Isla De Fuerteventura

Colonial Building Bathed by the Atlantic
Protected by the ocean, palm trees, and the fine-grained sand of Playa Blanca, this Parador invites you to admire the splendid panoramic view of Fuerteventura.  In spite of the volcanic origins of the roughest surroundings, it maintains its stately impression with its structure and white façades.  The brightness of the sun of the Canary Isles easily penetrates the spacious bedrooms from which the sea can be glimpsed at, guaranteeing leisurely rest.

33. Gijón
Asturias

Former Mill in the Isabel La Católica Park
This Parador occupies a hundred-year-old mill very close to San Lorenzo beach, with a beautiful pond which offers it an aspect of harmony and tranquillity in accordance with its setting.  The interior recreates a friendly atmosphere, with comfortable facilities.  Its large windows illuminate the inside and also give a sense of the nearby presence of the sea.

34. Granada
Granada

15th Century Convent
The enchantment of spending a night in the gardens of the Alhambra is the exclusive opportunity offered by this Parador.  Its fountains, trees, large arched windows and bedrooms, all different, create a perfect synthesis between Arabic and Christian architecture.  The views of the Generalife, the gardens of Secano and the Albaicín are a real luxury.

35. Gredos
Ávila

Stone Construction in the Heart of the Gredos Mountains
This was the first of the Paradors and, like then, in 1928, it preserves the exquisite atmosphere of the Gredos mountain range with its pine groves in a comfortable arrangement.  Its solid stone walls conserve the innocence of the site and the warm flooring of the bedrooms comforts the Castilian furniture of the interior.  The recreation of coats of arms, classical columns and wooden beams makes up the most contemporary appendages with style.
