This morning
the tour begins at Lisbon Airport. After clearing customs, you
will be met and transferred to Estoril, the resort of the
foreign kings. This is a wonderful village on the ocean about 20
miles from Lisbon. Check in to the Hotel Estoril Palacio, a fine
old world 5 star property.
You can spend
the rest of the day relaxing and exploring the streets of this
pleasant village.
Tonight
we値l get together for cocktails and hors d弛euvres where
you will have a chance to meet the other guests on the program.
Dinner tonight is on your own. You may want to take the short
walk to the Casino Estoril. Overnight at the Hotel Estoril
Palacio.

Saturday
October 18

This morning
enjoy breakfast in the hotel.
This morning
at about 9:30 AM we depart for a visit to Lisbon. This European
Capital city was founded by the Phoenicians over 2,000 years
ago. It still maintains much of its historic feel in the Barrio
Alto, the Baixa and the Alfama.
You値l have
a chance to visit these areas during our visit. We値l also
stop in Belem, Lisbon痴 area of the Discoveries where you will
see the Tower of Belem, Jeronimos Monastery and the Coach
Museum.
You値l have
time for lunch and shopping in the Baixa before we return to
Estoril in the late afternoon.
Dinner tonight
is on your own. Overnight at the Hotel Estoril Palacio.

Sunday
October 19
|
This morning
after breakfast in the hotel we will depart on the short drive
to Sintra, the resort of the Portuguese Kings.
The Pena
Palace is a wonderful place to begin our visit. Here you will
enjoy a tour through the many rooms decorated in styles from all
over the Portuguese Empire. Later we値l drive down to the old
town. The small winding, hilly streets with its abundance of
small stores, make this a great place to shop.
We will stop
early for a lunch at the Palacio de Seteais, a genuine 18th
century palace. Later we値l drive through the countryside to
Cabo da Rocha, the dramatic land痴 end before returning to
Estoril for the overnight at the Hotel Estoril Palacio.

Monday
October 20
|
Today we will
head north for the Silver Coast Region. We will visit Obidos, an
800 year old medieval village. Then visit Nazare for lunch.
We値l stop in Fatima before we continue on to Condeixa for
overnight at the Pousada Sta. Cristina.

Tuesday
October 21
|
Visit Viana do
Castelo, this is a wonderful town and is what you were hoping
Portugal would be like.
Later visit
Vila do Conde and Ponte da Lima.

Wednesday
October 22
|
Today we will
visit Porto.
We will spend
the afternoon in the old town and the Ribeira area, later take a
taxi tot Vila Nova da Gaia and visit one of the Port wine
cellars.
We will return
to Viana for the overnight.

Thursday
October 23
|
Today is a
free day to visit the wine country. The Minho, Lima and Douro
Rivers all produce very distinct and fine wines. The villages
that lie on the banks of these rivers are some of the most
interesting in Europe. We'll return to Viana for the overnight.

Friday
October 24
|
After
breakfast head south into the Costa da Prata Region. This area
is loaded with castles, monasteries and interesting things to
see.
Visit Aveiro,
the Venice of Portugal; this is a beautiful town. We will visit
Bussaco, an ancient monastery that is now a 5 star hotel. We'll
continue on to Viseu a tremendous medieval town before ending
our day in Mangualde at the Casa d' Azurara.

Saturday
October 25
|
Today we will
head east into the Alentejo Region. This area is full of
interesting things to see and do. We will be staying in the
ancient town of Evora. Overnight at the Pousada Dos Loios.

Sunday
October 26
|
Today we will
visit the Alentejo Region starting in Vila Vicosa, the ancient
capital of the region. Then we will continue on to Estremoz and
Monsaraz. We'll return to Evora for the overnight at the Pousada
Dos Loios.

Monday
October 27
|
This morning
you will be transferred back to the Lisbon Airport where you can
can check in for your flight home. |
